Regarding the TSR software. I would say that it's state of the art
software that's been written with the help of re-hashed standard
formulae and a lot of Tom Turner's experience.

Before I had enough money to get hold of the software I used formulae
found in (a borrowed copy of) Blair's book on two stroke design, and
other freeware that I'd found on the net to help me design pipes and
engine porting, but the beauty of TSR software is that you don't need a
calculator and a big sheet of paper to write all the equations on.
Designing a pipe used to take all day just working out the first set of
test dimensions, but with the NEWPIPE software it can be done in no time
at all. Tom has done all the hard work for you, and compared to other
design software it's relatively cheap.

A quick example is that before I used the TSR Port2000 program, my 300 was
very good, but with the help of TSR it's now magical.

So would I recommend the software? Of course! It help you come to a
decision quickly and efficiently. You do still need some experience with
how a two stroke engine works, and what a particular design should be
capable of. And you can get a good idea of what's going to happen to the
torque/power curve, powerband, over rev, etc. before you've even touched
the cylinder, head or pipe.

I should say here that I have no affiliation with TSR whatsoever.
However, I think TSR software is a very valuable tuning tool for any two
stroke enthusiast, and I thoroughly recommend it. Tom is also a very
nice guy to deal with and seems more than happy to help out where he can.
